Heerleheide

Arno & Iris designed a park and a 150m2 mosaic for the Cornelius Park in Heerlen. In cooperation with a landscape architect from the City of Heerlen, the artists drew up plans for a wavy site bisected by a recessed road where the mosaic would be located. The most important symbols of the city and typical Limburg attributes were incorporated in the park and mosaic. When the time came to actually lay the over 300,000 tiny glass tesserae, special events were organized to allow the park’s neighbours and enthusiastic volunteers to participate in creating their own artwork for Heerlen.
