2 Brüder von Venlo
The German-oriented quality supermarket Die 2 Brüder von Venlo had this work produced to celebrate their 50th anniversary, and presented it with great pride to their beloved city, Venlo, where it stands on the roundabout De Beerendonck. The artwork, in which the Dutch Lion and the German Eagle are intertwined, symbolizes the Dutch-German friendship: the ‘Nachbarschaft’. Venlo borders Germany, which is why many of the 2 Brüder’s customers are German.. The artwork also features several typical Dutch products, but also coffee: a product Germans often cross the border for. The artwork was designed in 3D and made using detailed waterjet-cutting production techniques. Thus each component could be made with precision. The larger 3D objects were made by specialist craftspeople. Tongue-in-cheek details include the Eurotrash Brewery beer caps, from Arno & Iris’s beer brand. Hundreds of litres of Eurotrash Beer were brewed and bottled for the unveiling of the artwork, after which the brand went on sale exclusively at the 2 Brüder.
