Arno & Iris designed the logo and interior of REBELZ, a restaurant with an unusual mission: it offers female ex-offenders the chance to train as cooks or waitresses in a regular working environment. Arno & Iris found a way to articulate this mission in their designs for the restaurant, which is situated in a former lemonade factory on the Bergse Rechter Rottekade.
When you visit REBELZ you step into a story about making choices in life, choices that can lead in different directions, some good, some bad. REBELZ believe everyone deserves a second chance.
The red, green and orange arrows symbolize the various choices that determine the direction our life will take. You encounter all kinds of forces along whichever route you choose, some of which may serve to keep you on track, but some of which may tempt you over the edge. Altogether, the designs convey the idea that wonderful things can be achieved when we work together.
The Eurotrash Brewery, founded by Arno & Iris, collaborated with REBELZ’s Syrian chef/coach to create a signature beer for the restaurant. The artists also designed the menus, which they dubbed “application forms”, complete with a line for your signature of agreement at the bottom of the document.
